Video - Background
I have loved drawing ever since I was little, and before I had the means to create actual video, I was constantly striving for ways to bring my still images to life. From creating flipbooks and zootrope strips to drawing comics that could almost be animated if the frames were strung together, I've always been fascinated by video and animation. Once I got my hands on a camcorder for the first time, I started to work with recorded video, and though I had no concept or means of editing I would often make movies with family members and friends on old videocassettes. In middle and high school I began experimenting with animation and video by using whatever tools I had available, starting with Microsoft Paint and PowerPoint, then Sony Screenblast and Hash Animation Master, then iMovie and Final Cut, then Adobe After Effects, and most recently Maya.

In my time at the University of Maine I have already gained so much valuable knowledge and experience with video and animation, especially in my job as a production assistant with University Relations where I filmed and a wide range of events all across campus and edited several pieces together, two of which were featured on TV during UMaine hockey games. One of my animations created for a class ended up winning the first UMaine Student Film Festival ("Courier"), and I hope to finish another animation started in a previous class ("The North Pole") and submit it to film festivals.
