Sound - Background
My background in sound stems from a strong background in music, thanks in large part to being raised in a family of musicians. I started private piano lessons at age six and continued for more than thirteen years. Starting around 7th grade I began experimenting with my dad’s MIDI sequencing/audio editing software, Cakewalk, which I used to compose dozens of MIDI and audio pieces over the next five or six years.

In middle school I began to sing more and more, and since that time have sung in several auditioned choirs, A Cappella groups (one of which I started with a friend in high school), musicals and festivals. In college I’ve had the unique opportunity of participating in eight weeklong singing tours between the Maine Steiners and University Singers, as well as a two-week tour in Italy with the University Singers in May 2009. I also recorded a studio album with the Maine Steiners in the spring of 2007.

I have done extensive audio editing work in college, including the production of an audio documentary, extensive work with soundtracks and sound effects, and even the creation of ringtones by splicing my favorite bits of a song into a 30-second clip.
